Minerva University, a San Francisco known worldwide for its innovative, immersive approach for future problem solvers, is also the hardest to get into, according to Niche, whose rankings focus on education and quality of life.
Minerva, which has been ranked the World’s Most Innovative University, beats out seven Ivy League schools in the top 20 when it comes to exclusivity. Only about 1 percent of students who apply are accepted to the private school with an enrollment of around 660 in 2022. Its undergraduate students live and learn in vibrant cities and attend seminar-style classes with a small group of peers while developing practical learning skills to address some of the world’s most vexing problems.

Of the 20 New Ivies, Vanderbilt University, a private college in Nashville, admits only 6 percent of applicants, making it the hardest of the New Ivies to get into. The University of Pittsburgh, a public school, has the highest acceptance rate of 50 percent.
